Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday urged Railway minister

Ashwini Vaishnaw to hand over the investigation to the NIA regarding multiple incidents of
vandalism at different Railway stations in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Friday.

” The recent incidents of vandalism at several railway stations situated in the Murshidabad district, perpetrated by the so-called ‘protesters’ opposing the passage of the Waqf Act are deliberate acts of destruction, targeting critical public infrastructure like railway stations which not only disrupt essential services but also pose a serious threat to public safety and national security,” Adhikari said on his X handle.

In a letter to Vaishnaw, Adhuikari said, “Given the situation of the violent protests and potential for such violence to escalate in broader implication because Murshidabad in border area with Bangladesh and presence of radical outfits like PFI and SIMI, the vandalism is a cse fit for probe for the National Investigation Agency (NIA).”

On Friday at least five long distance passenger trains Kamakhya–Puri Express, Barharwa–Azimganj Passenger, Sahibganj–Azimganj Passenger, DN Nabadwip Dham Express,Azimganj–Malda Town have suffered delay for hours owing to blocade on the track by the protesters.
