52-year-old Adrean Fontes is preparing for a crucial phase of his life, because he is fighting the elections to become the Secretary of State, Arizona. Duties which come along this post include those of election management, staff training, voter registration, checking of voting machines and verification of election results. The importance of this post has increased manifold in 2022. Mark Finchem from the Republican Party is Fontes’ competitor, who supports Donald Trump’s claim of election rigging taking place in 2020.

He is among the many Republican candidates, in whose hands, the command of organizing the next elections can go. A study conducted by Agency 538, which studies elections, has revealed that in the mid-term election of 2022, 201 Republican candidates out of 552 said that the 2020 elections were rigged. Apart from them, 61 more candidates have questioned the election results. 11 Republican candidates, aspiring to become Secretary of States believe in Trump’s claims. These candidates are part of the campaign to command the next election results.

Trump’s accomplices have also tried to get legal proceedings initiated against those leaders of the Republican Party who had accepted Biden’s victory. Along with this, Joe Biden has called the Secretary of State election, the ‘heart’ of the mid-term elections to take place in November. He added that equality and democracy have been attacked by the Republicans who refused to accept the results of independent elections.

On the other hand, American voters are also understanding the importance of the mid-term elections to be held in November. As per a latest survey conducted by Quinnipiac, 66% Americans believe that democracy is in danger. People supporting all parties, and from all age-groups and genders believe the same. In a survey conducted by NBC, people labeled the danger posed to democracy, the most crucial matter of concern.
