Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday urged the party workers to make the Amarnath Yatra success and render every helping hand to them during the pilgrimage.

“I urge all the party workers to make the Amarnath Yatra success, welcome yatris and render every helping hand to them during their pilgrimage in the Kashmir valley”, Mehbooba said during a press conference here in Srinagar on Wednesday.

The 62-day-long Amarnath Yatra begins on July 1 from the twin routes of Pahalgam in south Kashmir and Baltal in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

“We have called party activists from Anantnag and Ganderbal to advise them to take part wholeheartedly in the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and provide all help to the pilgrims during the yatra to make it success”, she added.

Mehbooba said Yatris are their guests and there should not be any shortcomings in looking after them, which is our tradition.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said that Kashmir valley remains the only place which always spreads the message of brotherhood and Yatra is always providing a platform to educate the whole nation about it.

“When there is an atmosphere being created to create a wedge between Hindu and Muslims all across the country, Kashmir always remains a place where traditional brotherhood was visible”, she said.

Mehbooba alleged that Muslims are being evacuated from their homes and their business establishments were being destroyed and they are lynched on the pretext of religion as seen in the Uttarakhand.

She also urged the authorities that during the up and down convoy of the pilgrims the common people who are the host of the Yatra should not feel any inconvenience.
