Police busted gang of motor lifters in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police have busted a gang of motorbike lifters by arresting four burglars and recovered stolen vehicles in Jammu Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police Station Pattan received a written application from one John Mohammad War, a resident of Palpora Pattan stating that some unknown thieves had stolen his motorbike parked in front of his Shop situated at Jamia Mohalla Pattan, and he went to offer Friday prayers, police said on July 14.

But on return, he found his motorcycle was missing and had been stolen by some unknown thieves.

On receipt of the application, FIR No. 231/2023 U/S 379 IPC stands registered in Police Station Pattan, and investigation taken up. During the course of the investigation, some suspects were called to the Police Station for questioning.

Meanwhile, the name of one suspect, identified as Mohammad Abbas Daint, a resident of Kusambagh Hakbara Hajin Bandipora, came to the fore, and accordingly, he was called to Police Station Pattan, where, during questioning, he confessed that he had stolen the motorbike.

In a statement, the police said that he disclosed that he had also stolen three other Motor Bicycles and was supplying the same to one Sajad Ahmad Pahloo, a resident of Madwan Hajin, who was assigned to change the parts of these stolen motor bicycles, and after making modifications, he was selling them.

During further questioning of the suspects, they further disclosed the names of two other persons identified as Lateef Ahmad Fafoo and Sajad Ahmad Wagay, both residents of Gund Prang Madwan Hajin, who are involved in the theft of motor bicycles.

All the stolen motor bicycles were recovered from Gund Prang and Madwan Hajin Bandipora, police said, adding that the accused are being questioned in order to recover more stolen property from them.
