New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the first edition of the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL) Leadership Conclave at Bharat Mandapam, and hailed it as a step towards becoming the “soul of India’s social life.”

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The School of Ultimate Leadership will play a vital role in India’s development. This institute is not just named ‘SOUL’, but is destined to become the very heart of India’s social life.’

He added that today every Indian is working day and night for a ‘developed India’ of the 21st century.

“In such a situation, even in a country of 140 crore people, we need the best leadership in every sector, every vertical, and every aspect of life,” he said.

Talking about the importance of SOUL, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Any country that aims to progress needs not only natural resources but also human resources. In the 21st century, we need resources that can drive innovation and channel skills effectively.”

“Skills are required in every sector, and leadership development is no exception—it demands new abilities. We must scientifically accelerate leadership development, and SOUL will play a vital role in this transformation,” he added.

Calling India “emerging as a global powerhouse,” he said this momentum is accelerating across every field. To sustain and amplify this growth, we need world-class leaders.”

“SOUL institutions can be a game-changer in this transformation. International institutions like these are not just a choice but a necessity,” Prime Minister noted.

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who is attending the two-day conclave in New Delhi, said while addressing the event, “I want to make it clear from the very beginning that I have no lessons about leadership, I am hardly qualified for it, I have come here as a student.”

Praising PM Modi’s leadership, Toggay said, “PM Modi, I see in you the image of an elder brother, who always guides and helps me. Prime Minister, my elder brother, you have put India on the path of progress in just 10 years with your wisdom, courage and compassionate leadership.”
