Six militants arrested in crackdown across Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Police and security forces arrested six active cadres of proscribed militant outfits in separate operations across the state and outside Manipur, while also recovering a stolen vehicle from Tengnoupal district.

Three of those arrested were allegedly involved in a recent bomb blast at Lilong Chajing under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district, police said.

In a separate operation the same day, security forces arrested another suspected cadre of a proscribed outfit.

Police also arrested one alleged militant from Gurugram in the northern state of Haryana in an inter-state operation, officials said.

Separately, security forces recovered an abandoned four-wheeler from M. Chanou area under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The vehicle had earlier been reported stolen from the Imphal area, and a case was registered at Imphal Police Station. Police said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the vehicle theft.
