Stalin lays foundation stone of Rs 1000 cr footwear manufacturing unit

Chennai: In a big boost to industrial development, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for a footwear manufacturing unit involving an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Ariyalur district on Friday.

The facility will come up at SIPCOT Industrial Complex at Jayamkondam in the district.

It will provide jobs for nearly 15,000 people, official sources said.

In another official function, he also launched the second phase of nutritional scheme for malnourished children and lactating mothers, benefitting 76,705 babies in the age group of 0-6 months.

In another event, Mr Stalin also launched a slew of development projects at an estimated cost of Rs 88 crore.
