Tragedy on track : three speech, hearing impairment teenaged boys run over by EMU train

Chennai: In a tragic incident, three speech and hearing impairment children, all teenagers, were run over by an EMU suburban train in Urapakkam while crossing the track on Tuesday evening.

Police sources said the boys, all residing in Karnataka and had come down to Chennai for puja holidays to their relatives house, were proceeding to Vandalur Zoo, when the tragedy happened.

The deceased were identified as J. Suresh (15), his brother Ravi (12),and Manjunatha (11).

The boys, who had come on holiday to their uncle’s house on holiday, located a few yards from the railway track when he had gone out, were on their way to board a train to Vandalur Arignar Anna Zoological Park, popularly called as Vandalur Zoo, when the incident occurred while crossing the track.

They were run over by Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu EMU train. Acting on police Government Railway Police, Tambaram rushed and the shifted the bodies to Chromepet Government hospital for post mortem.

The relatives of the boys wept inconsolably on seeing the bodies of the children.
