There is popular belief in India that unexpected outcomes in our lives are a casualty of our past or present Karma. And Karma they say always catches up. Such is the case of Sachin Vaze.
Sachin Vaze is an Assistant Police Inspector of the Mumbai Police. He returned to the Mumbai Police Force after 16-years suspension. He was accused in the Khwaja Yunus murder case in January 2003.
Sachin Vaze was booked and charge-sheeted in the Khwaja Yunus murder case after being placed under arrest in 2004 for concealment of facts in the custodial death of Khwaja Yunus.
On March 13, 2021, Sachin Vaze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Ambani car bomb case. Vaze was questioned for 12 hours in connection with the Ambani bomb scare and later arrested.
Vaze was arrested in Case RC no. 01/2021/NIA/MUM under section 286, 465, 473, 506(2), 120 B of IPC, and 4(a)(b)(I)Explosive Substances Act. A Scorpio car fitted with explosives was found outside the Mumbai residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
The car reportedly belonged to Mansukh Hiran, who was later found dead in a Thane creek a few days later even as the NIA continued with the bomb scare probe.
Sachin Vaze was one of the original group of Mumbai’s ‘encounter specialists’ alongside Pradeep Sharma and Daya Naik. He returned to the force on June 6, 2020 after a 16-year suspension.
On June 5, 2020 : Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh calls for a meeting at 10PM. It has been decided to convene a Late-Night Committee to review suspension of Mumbai Police Officers. The Committee is convened at 11PM. Reportedly in 10 mins a decision has been taken to reinstate suspended police officer Sachin Vaze.
On June 6, 2020: The Gazette Notification for the reinstatement of police officers including a Sachin Vaze is sent to print at 2AM. At around 3AM, the Gazette Notification is printed and by 4AM concerned officers have the Gazette Notification with the reinstatement of the suspended police officer Sachin Vaze.
On June 6, 2020: At 4AM, Sachin Vaze is officially reinstated into the Mumbai Police.
On June 6, 2020: Reinstated police officer Sachin Vaze reports to the Mumbai Police Arms Division at 9AM. Post reporting to the Arms Division, he is on route to report to the DCP, when he is asked to report to the Mumbai Commissioner of Police Office at 10AM.
On June 6, 2020: Sachin Vaze reports to the Mumbai Commissioner of Police Office at 10AM. Reportedly, Mumbai Commissioner of Police issues an Internal Order deputing Sachin Vaze to Mumbai Crime Branch.
His reinstatement was explained as a COVID-19 measure to tide over staff shortfall in Mumbai Police.
Vaze was moved to the Mumbai Crime Branch and made in charge of the Crime Investigations Unit (CIU). He began probing cases such as the Television Ratings Point (TRP) scam. He led a team to arrest Republic Media Network Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in the Anvay Naik suicide case. He was also investigating the Dilip Chhabria case and Hrithik Roshan fake e-mail case.
Sachin Vaze has been sent to NIA custody till March 25 by a Mumbai court. A court in Thane had on Saturday dismissed ‘encounter specialist’ Sachin Vaze’s interim bail plea in the Mansukh Hiren death case.In its order dismissing Sachin Vaze’s interim bail plea, the Thane court had said that his
“custodial interrogation is necessary”.
The Innova car seen in the CCTV footage tailing the SUV with the explosives was brought to NIA office. It belongs to Mumbai Police Crime Branch. Four members of Crime Intelligence Unit (2 drivers and 2 officers) were also called by NIA. The officers were a part of the team that was being headed by arrested Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze. Riyaz Kazi a part of the team has also now been arrested by NIA.
The moot question is the reason behind the extraordinary reinstatement overnight process of Sachin Vaze reportedly to the COVID-19 shortage of Mumbai Police Officers. Was Sachin Vaze reinstated to fight coronavirus or fight social viruses according to his political masters behind the extraordinary reinstatement. This is the question that will open up a can of worms and bring forth the truth.
