Searches in Kashmir in terror case

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency said on Tuesday that it carried out multiple raids at several locations in connection with a terrorism case.

It said the searches were aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem in the Kashmir Valley by identifying overground workers supporting and abetting terrorism.

The searches took place in Awantipora, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag and Baramulla.

“During the searches, incriminating material, mobile phones and other articles having a bearing on the investigation have been recovered and seized. Analysis of the data would follow and leads that would emerge would become the basis for further investigation,” the SIA said.

The searches were carried in connection with investigation of case pertaining to a terrorist grid active in the Valley.

“Details that are being investigated into at the initial stage include masterminds in Pakistan who with the active support of Pakistani intelligence agencies and in connivance with proscribed terrorist organization(s) … based in Pakistan have been activating their overground workers in J&K for initiating, organizing and executing terror activities. The Pakistani masterminds have been comprehensively identified,” the SIA said.
