Jammu: Indian Army—that always remain on the forefront to reach out every section of the society apart from safeguarding the borders on Sunday spread smiles at Artificial Limb Camp organised in the Ace of Spades Division of the bordering Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu based Defence Spokesman, Ministry of Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand said that Artificial Limb Camp was organised at the ALG ground at Rajouri in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of New Delhi, which is a non-profit charitable organization.

“The thoughtful camp has indeed brought smiles into several lives, and has shown a glimmer of hope to many more of the region for whom expensive treatment is only a dream due to the prohibitive costs involved,” said the Colonel.

Sharing details, the spokesman said that in the camp, measurement of limbs of 72 beneficiaries from the native villages including 60 from Rajouri, five from Poonch, seven from Manjakot and Mendhar was taken, which will be fitted free of cost in the next camp scheduled in the month of November.

“In addition, the repair of the previously issued artificial limbs was also carried out,” he said.

The Spokesman stated that the Artificial Limb Camp has been a noble initiative by the Indian Army for the local villagers, those who could not afford fitment of limbs and orthopedic equipment.
