While Sri Lanka was facing an economic crisis in the last months, the supply of daily necessities including food items to the islands situated nearby, like Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles, and others, had stopped completely. The crisis also hugely adversely affected the tourism at these places. Amidst all this taking place in Sri Lanka and the nearby islands, back in India, youths of Ajmer in Rajasthan created an opportunity out of the crisis faced by Sri Lanka, and their career developed rapidly.

They started a startup of exporting India-made items of daily use there after understanding the details of import and export. Company Director, Anish Gupta, has said that his sister, Arushi, is the Group Director, Marketing and Communications in Maldives, and has thorough work experience. He added that it was his sister’s idea to begin with the startup, after which the company was formed and a friend of theirs, Ranjit Singh Chauhan, was taken onboard as well.

Arushi then made a list of 10 5-star resorts of Seychelles, Maldives, and Mauritius, and then got in touch with the store managers, prepared a list of the items of daily use needed, and sent them an e-mail. These were items which did not require high amount of expenditure, like ribbons, stationery, food and beverages, bedsheets, decorative items, etc. All the 3 pitched 1 lakh rupees each and exported the items as per the resorts’ requirements. The people then loved the India-made products.

The purchasing is managed by Anish while Ranjit takes care of the export, and Arushi monitors local supplies from Maldives. They have sent a total of 13 consignments till now, each costing rupees 3.15 lakhs, and have yielded huge profits.
