In a city like Mumbai, quality jobs with handsome salaries are tough to be found, and accommodation is highly expensive as well. But in the Mount Mary Church, situated in Mumbai’s Bandra, everyone can dream of such things. 1, 000 people reach the church daily to pray, but in September, on the occasion of Feast of Nativity, which is Mother Mary’s birthday, the number of devotees visiting the church becomes 1 lakh daily. The visitors go to the holy spot at the top of the church, where they find the golden-clothed Mother Mary and baby Jesus.

The visitors also get to see a row of blue boxes, in one of which, they place a wax object, which looks like human lungs, move back, bow their heads, and pray. It is believed that if that object is placed here, then the blessings of Mother Virgin Mary are surely received. The objects which are believed to help in receiving these blessings at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, are found at the stalls outside the church. The highest demand is that of the cottages with sloping roofs. Objects related to the wishes of motorcycles, boats, cars, and planes, are all found here.

The trays places at the stalls are always filled with replicas of organs like hands, legs, ears, and heart.
