No matter whether it is Italy’s capital city Rome, or Milan, or Palermo, people there do not watch Bollywood movies, but are fans of Bollywood-style dance. The craze is such that every year, in order to learn Bollywood-dance steps and to study the expressions and gestures used in the same, they visit India, and are running Bollywood-dance classes after learning the same. More than 125 Bollywood-dance classes are being conducted in these Italian cities.

The song ‘Jai Ho’, from the movie Slumdog Millionaire had become highly popular in Italy, and the demand of Bollywood-dance classes in Italy hiked after people watched group dances on this song, which has bagged prestigious awards like the Grammy and the Oscar. Prior to this, Italian people had just seen glimpses of Bollywood dance in advertisements. Now, Italians can be seen dancing to songs like Rockstar’s ‘Kun Faya Kun’, and ‘Gallan Goodiyan’ from Dil Dhadakne Do. Along with this, participants are also securing their positions in the finals of the show ‘Italy’s got Talent’ through Bollywood-dance.

The steps, moves, expressions, and gestures of Bollywood dance attract people more, as compared to European dance forms. Now, Punjabi songs like ‘Mundeya ton bachke rahin’ are also becoming extremely popular among Italians.
