Harichandan became the new Governor of Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Shri Biswa Bhushan Harichandan took oath as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

Harichandan was administered the oath by Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. He is the ninth Governor of the state.

He took the oath in Hindi in a solemn ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.

The First Lady Mrs Suprabha Harichandan was also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, members of the State Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary Abhitabh Jain, top officials of administration and police, besides a large number of dignitaries were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Shri Harichandan was born on 3 August 1934 at Banpur in Khordha district of Odisha. Hailing from a family of freedom fighters, Mr Harichandan has been a five-time member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and a four-time minister in the Odisha government.
