New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday held talks with a visiting Israeli parliamentary delegation led by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral ties and promoting cooperation in I2U2 – the Israel, India, US and UAE bloc.
In a tweet, the EAM said that they also discussed connectivity, renewables, food security and tourism.
“Glad to welcome Israeli Knesset Speaker @AmirOhana and parliamentary delegation in South Block today.
“Discussed strengthening India-Israel ties and promoting cooperation in I2U2.
“Connectivity, renewables, food security, start-ups, tourism and culture can enrich our agenda.”
The Israeli Knesset Speaker in a tweet on the meeting said the meeting was productive and that he is confident that the collaboration will enhance bilateral relations.
“Thank you my dear friend Minister for External Affairs of India @DrSJaishankar. It was an important and productive meeting. I’m confident that our collaboration will enhance Israel-India relations for the benefit of both nations.”
On March 31, the Israeli Parliamentary Delegation, led by Speaker of Knesset Amir Ohana called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The delegation also called on Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and also visited the Parliament House and met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who hosted lunch for the delegation. They signed an MoU on the first cooperation and exchange of information agreement between Israel and India.
