Vice President pays homage to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule

New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday paid rich tributes to social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary.

“My tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary,” he tweeted.

Recalling Phule’s contribution, Dhankhar said, “He was an iconic social reformer who strove tirelessly to dismantle caste barriers and social inequalities. ”

“A crusader of women’s rights and education, his remarkable legacy will continue to inspire all,'” he added.

Union Ministers also took to the micro blogging site and paid homage to the social reformer.

“I bow my head in reverence to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary. He was a giant of a man who devoted his life for nation building through his efforts towards women’s education, social reform and promotion of rationalism,” Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said.

Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “Respectful tributes to the Great Indian Activist, Social Reformer and Author – Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his Jayanti.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also took to twitter and wrote, “Humble tributes to the great social reformer, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, who tirelessly worked for the rights of the underprivileged and pioneered the movement for women’s education.”

“His ‘Satyashodhak Samaj’ inspires us to work toward bringing social justice and equality in our society,” he said.
