Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, has made an important move at a time when only a few months remain for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections to be held in December, 2023. It has been officially announced by the MP BJP government that a ‘Brahmin Welfare Board’ will now be set up in the state, and the government will not interfere in the activities of Hindu temples, basically freeing temples from government control.

In this major announcement, it has also been said that temple land will not be auctioned by district collectors but by the priests of temples, and that the temple priests will receive a monthly allowance of 5000 rupees. Scholarships will also be provided to ritualistic children studying Sanskrit.

“Now, temple activities will not be controlled by the government, but by the priests”, it was said by CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Welcoming this move of the government, netizens are tweeting about the same in large numbers and #FreeTemplesMP is trending on Twitter, wherein people are appreciating this move, the MP CM, and the state government, stating that it has paved a way for ‘spiritual autonomy’ in the state.
