On Monday, June 5, the protesting wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia, resumed their duty in the Railways, but said that their protest against the alleged sexual assault of female wrestlers by the accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former WFI Chief, will continue. The wrestlers have stated that this ‘Satyagraha’ will continue despite them resuming their responsibilities towards the duty of their jobs.

In the meantime, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait too, has taken back his call of sitting at the Jantar Mantar for protest along with the wrestlers from June 9. As per him, it is also possible that the wrestlers have ‘backed off’ because of pressure exerted by the government.

Taking to Twitter, Bajrang Punia said, “Those who said that our medals were worth 15 Rupees are now after our jobs. Our lives are at stake, jobs are a very small thing in its comparison. If the jobs will become an obstacle in the way of justice, we will not even take 10 seconds to resign. Do not show us the fear related to the jobs”.

It is noteworthy that on Sunday, June 4, the protesting wrestlers met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, late at night, and the wrestlers said that it was a ‘normal conversation’, and that their strategy for the future will soon be told by them to the public.
