On Wednesday, June 21, Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Chief, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, two days after his party withdrew its support to the Nitish-Kumar led government in Bihar. Through a letter written to Governor Rajendra Arlekar, on Monday, the HAM withdrew its support to the Mahagathbandhan alliance government, which comprises the JD(U), RJD, and the Congress.

Meeting with Shah at his residence, Jitan Ram Manjhi, along with his son, the HAM National President, Santosh Suman Manjhi, announced getting merged with the NDA, and fighting the Lok Sabha elections with the BJP. They will also remain allied with the BJP in the state of Bihar as well.

The meeting carried on for 45 minutes, and BJP MP Nityanand Rai was present as well.

It was only a few days ago that the HAM President Santosh Manjhi had resigned from the Bihar cabinet, and had announced the same stating that all the options for the party were being kept open, whether it is merging with the NDA or fighting elections alone, and a decision would be taken looking at what will be best suited for the party.
