Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha assured a visiting journalist delegation from Bangladesh on Sunday that he would take up the matter of their demand for visa process simplification with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Saha highlighted several significant steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh and said the HIRA (highway, internet, railways, and airways) model of development adopted by the Prime Minister has become instrumental in bolstering connectivity in the region.

He also shared insights into his government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the cross-border movement of drugs and narcotics and apprised, “We have been on a mission to make Tripura a drug-free state, which Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced as zero-tolerance against drugs in the country and their movement through India.”

The Bangladeshi delegation visited the Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan at Chottakhala in South Tripura and expressed their gratitude to the Tripura government, which focuses on preserving the memories of the 1971 Liberation War.
