Srinagar: A life-size cut-out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the historic Lal Chowk is a new attraction for tourists.

They can be seen taking photographs and selfies with the huge cut-out that was installed late Tuesday.

The cut-out shows the Prime Minister wearing a white full-sleeved Kurta and Pyjama alongside a striped waistcoat.

The tourists express their delight and attribute positive changes in the region to his leadership.

This is the first time that any such cut-out of a Prime Minister has been installed in the historical Lal Chowk.

“This unexpected attraction reflects not only the popularity of the Prime Minister but also the positive sentiments associated with the perceived development in the region”, said a tourist couple who were seen taking pictures with Modi’s cut-out in Lal Chowk.

A message in Hindi has also been erected – “Buzargoun ka Samaan…” or respect for the elders.

“This is India,” said a tourist, adding “We should respect our elders…I feel very good to see this message”.

The tourist said she had never expected such changes in Kashmir and even five years ago there was no idea that “we can visit Kashmir even once|. “I feel very uplifted to take a picture with my husband with the cutout of Modi ji in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk”, she said.

“We were very afraid that we could go to Kashmir”, she said and added, “Now we are here because of Modiji..we should feel proud that we are Indians”
