On Tuesday, November 28, which was day 17 of the rescue operations at the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand, all the 41 workers trapped inside have been evacuated safely and successfully. Initially, reports had said that the trapped workers had started coming out of the tunnel, but it was clarified later that during the mock drill, a minor bending in some pipe had delayed their rescue.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, had earlier informed that all the workers would soon be evacuated successfully, after the work of laying pipes inside the tunnel for their exit had been completed. Taking to X, Dhami had stated that with the immense grace of Baba Baukh Nag Ji, the prayers of the countrymen, and the relentless efforts of the rescue teams, the work to lay the pipes to rescue the workers has been completed, and soon, all the workers will be taken out.

Some time before the evacuation, a team of health experts had gone inside the tunnel to check the vital health aspects of the workers. The rescue operations started on November 12, and saw success after rat-hole mining was started.
