New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday rebuked Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha for his gesticulation and schooled him on raising a point of order.

“Mr Chadha, you don’t have to do like this (gesture using hands). Don’t do it. Otherwise you will start dancing also,” a visibly annoyed Dhankhar said.

Expressing his objection to Chadha’s gesticulation, the Rajya Sabha Chairman said, “It is time for you to start learning. Mr Chadha, you don’t have to do this to raise your point of order. Use your tongue,” Dhankhar said while pulling him up.

“You are the only person who is enjoying his conviction, is sentenced, giving an impression that your suspension was revoked. You are convicted, you are sentenced by this House,” the Chairman said, chiding him.

Soon after the Upper House convened for the day and various reports were tabled in routine manner, Opposition members started demanding discussion on Parliament security breach. As many as 23 notices were received from members for suspending the daily business of the House and discuss the security lapse.

The Chairman however rejected the demand saying investigation is on in the case and it will be taken to its logical conclusion.

On this, the opposition members started shouting and the House descended into chaos. This forced the Chairman to adjourn the House till 2 PM.

The opposition uproar in the House was expected given that TMC member Derek O’Brien had on Thursday been suspended for the remaining period of the winter session. In Lok Sabha, as many as 13 Opposition members were suspended yesterday for their misconduct.
