Farmers’ protest march: Haryana govt converts 2 stadiums into temporary jails

Chandigarh: The police have started arresting activists of Kisan organisations, and dug up river banks to scuttle 26 farmer bodies’ plans to hold a protest march to Delhi on February 13.

The Chandigarh administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144, banning the assembly of more than five persons at any one point. The police have constructed cemented walls supported by barbered walls so that no one dared to cross the barrier.

To strengthen the barriers, the police dug up the Ghagger river banks so that no tractor could cross the barrier. As an extra precaution, embankment of the Ghagar river bed thuds have been made to make the passage difficult to cross.

According to information, more than 150 barriers have been installed to check the entry of the peasant marchers, who have given the call for the protest under the banner of Joint Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.

The administration has requisition drones around the Shambu barrier in Ambala and other places so as to update he officers on duty with minute-to-minute details.

The Haryana government has converted two stadiums into temporary jails.

The Punjab farmers are planning to enter the march riding 10,000 tractors and gather at the Shambhu barrier from were the farmers from Ambala and Yamunanagar would join the March.
