Shivamogga: Amid escalating concerns regarding the fairness of the ongoing investigation into the Prajwal Revanna sex scandal, Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa has demanded a transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Expressing doubts about the impartiality of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), Vijayendra questioned the ability of the current probe to deliver justice without interference. “SIT has been formed, we can’t expect a fair investigation,” remarked Vijayendra, highlighting skepticism surrounding the integrity of the ongoing inquiry.
Drawing attention to the perceived influence of senior Congress leaders, Vijayendra cautioned against potential manipulation of the investigation’s proceedings. He emphasised the risk of undue influence stemming from what he termed as the “high-handedness” of Congress figures.
Vijayendra also accused the Congress party of expert manipulation and politicisation of the scandal. “Senior leaders in Congress party are experts in doing this,” he asserted, suggesting a pattern of political maneuvering within the opposition ranks.
While condemning the alleged actions depicted in the videos, Vijayendra reiterated the BJP’s stance against such behaviour. “We have already condemned this act. BJP never supports this kind of attitude, these kind of activities,” stressed Vijayendra, underscoring the party’s disapproval of the scandalous content.
However, Vijayendra denounced what he perceived as the Congress party’s opportunistic approach, insinuating deliberate inaction regarding Prajwal Revanna’s departure from the country for political gain. “How the Congress party is using it…Congress wants to politicise it,” remarked Vijayendra, expressing frustration with what he sees as partisan exploitation of the situation.
He also expressed frustration at the perceived delay in delivering justice, attributing it to the politicisation of the issue.
The demand for a CBI inquiry by Vijayendra signals a deepening political rift and adds fuel to the already contentious debate surrounding the scandal.
