Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Iran has released French national Louis Arnaud, who was arrested in September 2022 and had been held since.
“Louis Arnaud is free. Tomorrow he will be in France after a long incarceration in Iran,” AFP quoted Macron as saying on Wednesday.
The French president thanked Oman for help in freeing Arnaud and urged Tehran to release three other French nationals “without delay.”
Arnaud, a French banking consultant, was arrested in September 2022 while visiting Iran. Last year, he was reportedly sentenced to five years in jail on national security charges.
