Ranchi: Several coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail going from Howrah to Mumbai derailed near the Barabamboo station of the Chakradharpur Railway Division of South Eastern Railway in Jharkhand early Tuesday, in which seven people were injured.

South Eastern Railway CPRO Om Prakash Charan told UNI here that 18 coaches of the Howrah Mumbai Mail derailed in this accident, including 16 passenger coaches, and one pantry coach.

He said that seven people were injured in this accident, of whom two were seriously injured.

The accident occurred at 3.45 AM near Badabamboo, around 80 km from Jamshedpur, under the Chakradhatpur Division of South East Railway, officials said.

Railway sources said that an NDRF team has been sent from Patna for relief and rescue.

Sources said that a goods train had derailed earlier between Rajkharsawan West Outer and Barabamboo, due to which the wagons were on the track when the Howrah-Mumbai Mail was coming from the other track, and its coaches also derailed after colliding with those wagons.

The passengers of the train involved in this accident have been sent to another nearby railway station through buses.

The Howrah-Kantabaji Express 22861, Kharagpur-Dhanbad Express 08015/18019 and Howrah Barbil Express 12021/12022 Express running on this route have been cancelled due to delays, and some trains were stopped midway.
