Georgia: More than 400 people have been detained during protests in Tbilisi since November 28, Georgian Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze said.

“We remind you that during the protests that have been taking place since November 28, more than 30 people were identified and brought to justice under criminal procedure. Also, 372 people were detained under administrative procedure and proceedings were initiated against them, of which 62 were given administrative detention, and more than a hundred people were fined. Legal proceedings are actively underway against the rest,” Darakhvelidze said at a briefing.

A series of opposition protests began in Georgia on November 28, after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced his decision to suspend consideration of the issue of starting negotiations on the country’s membership in the European Union until 2028.

Protesters are using firecrackers, stones, bottles, and Molotov cocktails were reportedly found at the site of the pogroms. Security forces are responding with special equipment, including water cannons.
