Hyderabad: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy strongly condemned the attack on the Telangana BJP state headquarters by Youth Congress workers.
He labelled the act as “cowardly” and accused Congress workers of behaving like “goons and rowdies” by attacking the office with stones and sticks in the presence of police.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Reddy criticised the Congress party for resorting to violent and partisan politics. He accused Congress of orchestrating the attack in collusion with police, who he alleged acted as silent spectators during the incident.
“This act of cowardice reflects the Congress party’s desperation and lack of public support. Such physical attacks have no place in a democracy. The Congress government in Telangana must take responsibility for this heinous behaviour,” Reddy said.
He warned that if the Congress party continues on this path, it must be prepared for the consequences.
“Do not mistake our tolerance for incompetence. While we do not endorse or promote violent politics, we will not tolerate attacks on our party workers or offices. The state government and Chief Minister will bear full responsibility for any future consequences arising from such actions,” he said.
Referring to the recent comments made by former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, which Congress workers cited as the provocation for their attack, Reddy pointed out that Bidhuri had already issued an apology. He questioned whether violent retaliation was justified.
Reddy also drew comparisons to past statements made by Congress leaders, including derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting what he called a “culture of intolerance” within the Congress party.
“Despite these offensive comments, BJP workers have never resorted to physical attacks. This is not our culture, and the Congress party must adopt a more democratic and civil approach to dissent,” he added.
The BJP leader warned Congress leaders to change their approach or face the consequences of BJP workers losing their patience.
“If BJP workers decide to respond in kind, no Congress leader will be able to move freely in this country. But we don’t believe in such politics. Congress must stop its culture of intolerance and violence immediately,” he added.
