Bhubaneswar: Sensor-controlled electrical appliances should be used in government offices across Odisha in the coming days, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.

“This will help conserve energy,” Majhi stated while reviewing various programs of the state’s Power Department.

The meeting discussed measures to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer and ways to involve more people in the P.M. Surya Ghar Yojana.

The Chief Minister called for a massive information campaign to encourage greater public participation in the Surya Ghar scheme.

He also stressed the need to increase the Power Department’s budget expenditure to at least 85 per cent.

Majhi emphasized the importance of upgrading feeders and transformers and directed officials to establish a strong backup system in the power supply sector.

To prevent power cuts, he suggested ensuring sufficient electricity supply by holding discussions with various power generation companies to meet peak-hour demand.

The Chief Minister added that, if necessary, the state would seek assistance from the Central Government.

A Quick Response System will be fully operational during power outages for the convenience of consumers, Majhi stated. He also directed all power distribution companies in the state to remain vigilant to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the summer season.

Additionally, the Divisional Secretaries were instructed to take measures to prevent unnecessary power wastage in government offices.
