Moscow: Moscow hopes Belgrade will withdraw its vote on anti-Russian resolutions at the UN, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

“I am more interested from the viewpoint of international relations whether the Serbian delegation to the UN has withdrawn its vote on anti-Russian resolutions… I hope that, given the statements by official Belgrade that this was a mistake, this will be done,” Zakharova said during a briefing.

The National Assembly (Serbian parliament) began the first meeting of the spring session on Tuesday. Deputies adopted an agenda of about 50 items, the main one being amendments to the law on education in connection with mass protests over the death of 15 people in a collapse at the railway station in Novi Sad on November 1.

Opposition lawmakers insisted that the discussion of higher education should be the only issue on the agenda and rejected it, burning flares, throwing smoke bombs, firecrackers and eggs. A scuffle with members of the ruling coalition and the security service ensued.
