Saudi FM Faisal bin Farhan dials EAM, Ishaq Dar, urges for de-escalation, end to military confrontation

Riyadh/New Delhi: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan spoke on the phone today with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and FM Ishaq Dar, calling for de-escalation of tensions and end to the military confrontation.

According to a statement, “During the calls, discussions focused on efforts to de-escalate tensions and end ongoing military confrontations.

“Prince Faisal affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to the security and stability of the region and its close and balanced relations with both friendly countries.”

The phone call to India and Pakistan follows the visit of Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, to India and Pakistan on May 8 and 9.

The visit was upon the directives of Saudi Arabia’s leadership.

Al Jubeir had met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi and with Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

The visit was part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, end ongoing military confrontations, and promote the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomatic engagement, the statement said.
