4th of November, 2020 will be remembered as a Black Day for democracy, a day when I woke up to the news of Arnab Goswami – the dynamic, enterprising and passionate Editor-in-Chief of Republic Media Network being physically assaulted by the Mumbai Police, dragging him to a van in the presence of dozens of heavily armed police men.
The visuals were horrific and disgusting. It was painful to see an enterprising, dynamic and passionate individual like Arnab being treated in this crude manner. Arnab represents India and every free spirited Indian identifies with him. Arnab is an apostle of Truth and he stands heads and shoulders amongst others. He is a mountain amongst hills, an ocean amongst rivers and a super highway amongst pothole ridden roads who doesn’t back down in the face of constant pressure.
India in 2020 is an India which doesn’t hesitate in asking questions, seeking the truth albeit like an unstoppable force which has a method to its madness. Arnab is not just an entrepreneur; he is a thought process which exemplifies versatile and incredible India. People from all age groups love him, adore him, admire him because he takes up issues which other news channels cannot even dream of.
Arnab’s voice cannot be curtailed as it represents justice which has no bouacccndaries. Don’t just condemn this dastardly attack on Arnab but stand up for the fourth pillar of democracy as it represents freedom of expression which is sacrosanct for every Indian.
2020 will be known for all the wrong reasons. This year will also be the tipping point in the fight for truth. The public is the wind beneath Arnab’s wings and he will only fly higher and higher and become much more stronger in the eyes of every right seeking citizen across this wonderful universe.
