Fazilka: BSF and Punjab police conducted a joint search operation on Tuesday to investigate illegal poppy cultivation in Fazilka District, based on intelligence from the BSF Intelligence Wing.

A BSF spokesperson said during the operation, “Poppy cultivation along with coriander was discovered in an agricultural field near Chak Khewa Dhani Bachan. Subsequently, an individual was arrested on charges of illegal cultivation of opium, and approximately 14.50kg of opium plants were uprooted and seized.”

He said the vigilant BSF troops and Punjab police effectively thwarted an attempt to produce narcotics in Punjab, thereby safeguarding the public from the perils of drug proliferation.
