New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday filed a complaint in the court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for skipping the sixth summons in the alleged Delhi excise policy case.

As per sources, the complaint, filed under Section 174 of the IPC, cites Kejriwal’s “intentional disobedience” of the initial three summons issued to him.

Meanwhile, AAP reiterated that the summonses sent to Kejriwal were “illegal”.

It said since the issue was in the court, the agency should await the court’s decision instead of repeatedly sending summonses to Arvind Kejriwal.

The probe agency on February 14, issued its sixth summons to Kejriwal, directing him to appear before it on (Monday) February 19.

On February 17, the Rouse Avenue court granted Kejriwal an exemption from personal appearing in court over the ED summons till March 16.

During the video conference with the court, the Chief Minister explained that due to the ongoing no confidence motion debate in the Delhi Assembly and the Budget session scheduled to conclude on March 1, he couldn’t appear before the court in person.

Kejriwal assured that he would be available after March 1.

The AAP chief has previously skipped five summons of the anti-corruption agency.

The five summons were issued on February 2, January 18, January 3, December 22, 2023, and November 2, 2023.

Reacting to the development , Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “The summons which Kejriwal is calling illegal, under section 174 of IPC, the court has accepted that the summons is correct”.

“There is a contempt of court by calling the summons illegal. The corruption done by Arvind Kejriwal will soon be revealed to the public” he added.
