IED detected & defused on Srinagar outskirts

Srinagar: An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered and defused by the security forces on Wednesday morning along the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway on the city outskirts.

The Army said due to the timely detection of the IED by the Army and Police at Lawaypora Srinagar, a major tragedy was averted.

The IED was detected early in the morning when Srinagar was under a blanket of thick fog.

“ChinarWarriors and @JmuKmrPolice averted a major terror incident today by recovering and in-situ destroying an IED at Lawaypora on the Srinagar-Baramulla Highway,” the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

It added that the Indian Army is resolute in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free.

Traffic on the highway was suspended for a brief time after the detection of the IED.
