J&K police attaches property of drug trafficker in Kupwara

Srinagar: Police attached a residential house of a notorious drug trafficker under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Police on Monday said that the house of drug trafficker Lateef Ahmad Chouhan a resident of Surigam Lolab was attached on action pertaining to case FIR No. 61/2017 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Sogam.

“The action was taken under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS)”, police said and added “the residential property was identified during the investigation as being illegally acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking”.

“This decisive step underscores J&K Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the society”, it said

J&K Police appeals to the public to actively support this mission by providing any information regarding drug-related activities.

“Public cooperation is crucial in combating this social evil. Those found involved in drug peddling or related activities will face stringent legal action”, police warned.
