As a result of continuous heavy downpours being witnessed in state of Gujarat for many days in a row now, severe flooding has taken place in the Ahmedabad Airport, after which the subway and the terminal areas have been inundated with knee-high water levels, which passengers were witnessed moving through, in visuals which are going viral across social media.

Videos shared on Twitter show how people were wading through the water to board their flights on time.

In the light of this situation, the airport authorities have asked the passengers to contact their respective airlines before beginning their journeys, in order to check the status of their flights. Due to the water-logging, passengers have also been advised not to park vehicles at the airport facility.

And as the situation poses extreme inconvenience to the travellers, as they are struggling to reach their destinations on time, the airport officials are working relentlessly, to maintain smooth operations, despite the critical conditions.

The city of Ahmedabad is facing wide-spread water-logging because of continuous rainfalls over the last 48 hours, which has affected the daily life of the residents and commuters, and major disruption has been caused to the airport operations.

A red alert has specifically been issued for Junagadh, Jamnagar, Dev Bhoomi Dwarka, Kutch, Surat, Valsad, Navsari, and Surat. These areas may experience intense precipitation, which can lead to flooding and other related hazards. Additionally, many other districts in south Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch will also witness heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days, according to the IMD.
