Kolkata: Prime Video on Thursday announced the global streaming premiere of Malayalam crime comedy film – Gold, starring Prithviraj, and Nayanthara.
Directed by Alphonse Puthren, who returned to Malayalam films after seven years, Gold is produced by Supriya Menon under the banner of Prithviraj Productions, and Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames.
The film also boasts of a stellar ensemble cast, including Ajmal Ameer, Krishna Kumar, Shabareesh Varma, and Chemban Vinod Jose in pivotal roles. Prime members in India and over 240 countries worldwide can stream the crime comedy film in Malayalam from December 29.
An unconventional crime-comedy film, Gold follows a mobile store owner – Joshi, played by Prithviraj, who by happenstance gets embroiled in series of events that accentuate greed and gluttony, in a much more real sense.
Prithviraj’s outstanding performance, and impeccable timing in the film exhibit the perfect balance of humour, and thrill, which is complemented by the extraordinary background music composed by Rajesh Murugesan.
Speaking about the film, director Alphonse Puthren, said, “A delectable treat of comedy and crime, Gold is a complete family entertainer. Creating 40 new characters that are funny, dark, and amusing at the same time, we have something for everyone in the film. After the great response we have received from viewers who enjoyed it in the theatres, we are delighted that the film will now make its streaming premiere on Prime Video, and truly go global, reaching a much larger audience in over 240 countries.”
Prithviraj, further added, “While we continue to live our lives, often we do not realize the vices or virtues that we experience and come across. Dabbling in dark comedy, my character (Joshi) reflects on the perils of gluttony and greed, from a very different vantage point that is infused with drama, humour, thrill, and mystery. Gold is very creatively elevated by visionary director Alphonse, and amazing performances by the entire cast of the film. I am delighted that audiences all across the world, can watch this entertainer on Prime Video.”
