Bringing back dark memories of the Ajmer blackmail scandal that was unleashed during the early 90s, the similar case that has taken place in Beawar district’s Bijainagar has yet again sent shockwaves amidst the people of Beawar, Ajmer, and across Rajasthan. And as investigation in the matter continues, Hindu groups, businessmen, organisations, institutions, and other self-employed people came together in Ajmer, on Saturday, March 1, to protest against the perpetrators of the atrocious crime, and carried out a ‘bandh’ across the city.

While all the markets of the city remained closed the whole day, the businessmen also organized a bike rally, showcasing their anger over the case of Hindu school-going girls being enticed into Love Jihad traps by a gang of Muslim youths, involving minors as well. The victim girls were being sexually exploited, blackmailed, and pressurized to accept Islam as their faith.

Heavy police deployment was seen across the city, which ensured the successful completion of the peaceful protests. In order to observe the bandh, the main markets, business outlets, shopping malls, petrol pumps, and public transport services were suspended for the day. The protestors have demanded strict action against the culprits in the case.

Till now, 10 Muslims have been arrested in the case, and 3 others, who are underage are in court custody.

The matter came to the fore when around 10 days ago, a victim stole 2000 Rs from her father’s wallet in order to pay one of the blackmailers, and her father caught her talking to the culprit using a Chinese mobile given to her by the latter.
