Suspicious movement seen near LoC, Army opens fire in Poonch

Jammu: Alert Army troops early Sunday opened fire after seeing a suspicious movement along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources said that on observing suspicious movement in Keri-Gulutha area of Mendhar in Poonch, patrolling party opened fire.

“As security is already heightened along borders in view of G20 events starting from tomorrow in Kashmir, army patrol noticed some suspicious movement during wee hours and opened fire,” they said.

Sources added that no loss of life or injury was reported in the firing while searches are intensified in the area.

On Saturday, a Pakistani intruder was also shot dead in Poonch.
