Chennai: A 10-member textile delegation from Taiwan visited Tamil Nadu and explored investment opportunities and also met officials of the State government.
An official release here said n continuation to the Global Investors’s Meet held in January
2024, and as per the instructions of the Chief Minister M K Stalin, various efforts are being
taken by the Handlooms and Textiles Ministry for the development of all sub-segments of
technical textiles in Tamil Nadu.
A 10-member delegation of entrepreneurs from technical textiles and man-made fibre sector from Taiwan visited more than ten technical textile manufacturing facilities in
Coimbatore for two days on July 10 and 11 and explored the possibilities of collaboration
with the Technical Textiles industry in Tamil Nadu.
The Textile Committee of CII, Chennai, organised the visit aimed at exploring investment
possibilities and technical tie-ups in the field of technical textiles.
The Taiwan textile industry is looking at Tamil Nadu in India as an attractive and alternative
investment destination due to geo-political situation in Chinese Taiwan region.
In continuation of the Coimbatore visit, the delegation visited Chennai on yesterday to have
interaction with the officials from the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, MSME and
Industries Department.
In the meeting, Mr Justin Huang, Secretary General Taiwan Textile Federation, said Taiwan
is focusing on functional textiles and sports textiles. Thereafter, the Guidance Tamil Nadu
briefed the Taiwanese delegation on business opportunities and government incentives in
the field of technical textiles.
Secretaries to the Government from MSME Department Ms.S.Archana Patnaik, Handlooms,
Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, and Industries
Department V.Arun Roy assured the delegation of total business facilitation and support from the TN Government.
