Ending the suspense over who the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh will be, the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Sunday, December 10, announced that former union minister, Vishnu Deo Sai will be the CM of the state. It was on December 3 that the BJP recorded a landslide victory in the state, which was formerly believed to be a Congress strong-hold.

After being chosen as the new CM of Chhattisgarh, tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai said that the BJP will work in the state with honesty, to win everyone’s faith. He added that he will work to fulfill all the ‘guarantees’ given by PM Modi. He stated that the first work he will do will be to provide 18 lakh ‘awas’ to people.

Sai won the Chhattisgarh assembly election from the Kunkuri constituency in north Chhattisgarh, and being a senior party leader, has held various positions of importance, which include the former state chief and former union minister. With great grassroots level presence, Sao is highly regarded among tribal voters.

Apart from the name of the chief minister coming to the fore, reports suggest that the two deputy chief ministers for the state of Chhattisgarh will be Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, and the Vidhan Sabha speaker will be Raman Singh.
