Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday performed ‘Rudrabhishek’ in Shri Gorakhnath Temple here on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and prayed for everyone’s welfare and prosperity.

He performed Lord Shiv’s Rudrabhishek with cow milk in the Shakti Mandir on the first floor of the Gorakhnath Temple. After Rudrabhishek, the CM performed Hawan and Aarti and then prayed to Mahadev for the wellbeing of the entire world.

Prior to this, he also offered prayers at the Shiva temple located in the Gorakhnath temple complex. He worshiped Lord Nandi here and performed ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiv. Guru Gorakshnath is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva in the Nath sect and Maha Shivaratri is considered to be a very important occasion in the sect.

After completing the rituals of Maha Shivaratri at Gorakhnath Temple, Yogi visited the ancient Mansarovar Shiva Temple at Andhiyari Bagh, Mukteshwarnath Temple at Rajghat and Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple at Jharkhandi.

He directed the officials during the tour of the temples to make all necessary preparations for the security, order, and convenience of the devotees everywhere. After offering his prayers at the historic Mansarovar temple in Andhiyari Bagh, the CM immediately reached out to the kids to bless them and give them Maha Shivaratri’s prasada.

In the afternoon, he reached the Piteshwarnath temple in Bharohiya block in Pipiganj area of Gorakhpur where he performed Jalabhishek. He prayed for the wellbeing, salvation, success, and peace of all people.

CM Yogi extended best wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. “Today on the auspicious occasion of ‘Maha Shivaratri’ at Gorakhnath Mandir, I performed Rudrabhishek according to the rules and regulations. May the blessings of Devadhidev Mahadev always be with all of us. Har Har Mahadev,” he tweeted.
