20 killed, 43 injured in fire in multi-story building in Johannesburg

Johannesburg: At least 20 people have been killed and 43 more have been injured in a fire that engulfed a multi-story building in South Africa’s capital, Johannesburg, the News24 portal reported Thursday.

The official account for the city of Johannesburg municipality on X (formerly known as Twitter) has confirmed, citing Robert Malaudzi, a spokesperson of the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, that “the number of fatalities has risen to 20”.
