7.7 magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in North India

A massive earthquake hit the country of Afghanistan, the epicenter of the same being 90 KM from Kalafgan in the country. The earthquake, which hit at 10.17 PM, affected, along with Afghanistan, the neighbouring countries of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, and Kyrgyzstan. Tremors were also felt, as a result of the earthquake, in northern India. The affected states include Punjab, Delhi NCR, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Telecommunication breakdown in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir has been reported.

With a number of video clips going viral on social media, which show ceiling fans shaking in north India, #earthquake is trending at the top on Twitter currently.
