The British empire’s downfall had started long back in 1952, with Queen Elizabeth coming to the throne. The Queen, during her reign, was the royal suzerain of 15 countries. Now, after the Queen’s demise, her son, Charles III has become the King, and the biggest challenge he will have to face will be to maintain the expanse of the British Empire.

Referendum is all set to take place in 2025 in Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Jamaica, through which the people of these countries will decide whether they would continue to remain under British rule. It is being believed that these countries have developed an atmosphere against the British monarchy, and in order for these countries to become republics, ‘self-rule campaigns’ are being organized.

The difficulties for King Charles are not less as he lacks the charisma associated with the personality of Queen Elizabeth, and has always been in controversy because of his personal life and his second marriage, and therefore, has a negative image among people. In addition to this, it will be tougher as he has remained a prince for a very long time, with receiving the crown at the old age of 73.

If we look at three important countries under the British crown, in Canada, out of the population of 3.81 crore people, only 34% people favour King Charles. 66% people have supported a referendum. In French-speaking Quebec, 71% people want to get free from the British crown.

In Australia, back in 1999, 54% of the people had expressed their will of being under the British rule through a referendum, and now, the PM has made a Republic Minister in order to get rid of the British empire. The referendum will take place in 2025.

In New Zealand, 42% of the total population of around 51 lakh wants to break away from British rule, and the PM, Jacinda Ardern, has hinted towards the possibility of New Zealand getting separated from the British crown during her lifetime.
