The country will receive top-quality uranium from Rajasthan’s Sikar. Uranium better in quality than the reserves of Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh have been found in Sikar’s village called Royal. There has been discovered 1.2 crore tons of uranium and other associated minerals in an area spanning 1086.46 hectares in the village. The Uranium Corporation of India has been working on this project for the last 4 years now. A 30-metre pit line has been constructed for the mining and a 1.5 KM long tunnel will also be made.

Uranium will be found at depths from 60 to 700 metres and the mining will continue for a whopping 40 years. The mining-processing will be commenced within 2.5-3 years. The investment will be worth 3000 crores and directly, 3000, and indirectly, 7000 people will get an employment.

Currently, there are uranium reserves in Meghalaya, Chhag, and Telangana, with 8 mines and 3 processing units at work in Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh only. At the global level, Australia, Kazakhstan and Canada has the most uranium. Here, uranium is found in the form of fibre along with other minerals like copper between rocks. 90% of uranium will be separated by processing it with water or acid.

The Sikar project will not only benefit the state of Rajasthan but the whole country. The production of 50, 000 units of electricity is possible with just 1 KG of uranium, while with coal, only 3 units of electricity are produced. Uranium can also be used in the medical industry.
