Search for hotels, flights double even after fare hike

Plans have been made on a large scale by Indian families to travel during the festive season from September 1 to November 30th. As compared to pre-COVID times, the fares for domestic flights have recorded a hike of 39%, while the international flight fares have gone up by 38%. Despite this trend, search for flights from 1st July to 20th August increased a whopping 118% in comparison to 2019.

Search for international flights increased 143% and for domestic ones, 91%. On the other hand, an overall hike of 34% was recorded in the search of hotels. Inside the country, hotel search has hiked 98%. As per the report released on Wednesday by international travel search engine, Kayak, flight fares have increased up to 62% during the festive season, but this did not affect the enthusiasm of Indian travelers and tourists.

As per Kayak, the average fare of domestic economy class is 8, 585 Rs, while the average rate of international economy class is Rs. 56, 332. As compared to 2019, in this festive season, the fare to stay in a double-occupancy room for one night in 3 or 4-star hotels in foreign countries has increased around 22%. While inside the country, hotel room fares have increased 25% on an average.

The greatest number of searches were made for the following destinations, as far as flights are concerned- Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. On the other hand, the top foreign destinations being searched for are Dubai, Bangkok, London, and Singapore. In the meantime, people from the USA, Britain, Canada, Australia, Germany, Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore and Saudi Arabia searched the most for tickets to India.
